The Quality Choice Prize Barcelona 2022 was awarded to the University of Patras

The University of Patras was nominated and received the “Quality Choice Prize Barcelona 2022”. The award is administered by the European Society for Quality Research based in Lausanne (Switzerland), and is presented to Public Organizations and Companies from all over the world in recognition of their exceptional success in quality management strategies. This is a special honor for our Institution reflecting the exemplary work of our Faculty, Technical and Administrative Staff.
The University of Patras among the four hundred best institutions in the world and third in Greece for 2022
According to the “Top Universities by Top Google Scholar Citations” Webometric’s ranking announced on 26 January 2022 the University of Patras is ranked 375th in the world and 3rd in Greece. This ranking list includes more than 5000 universities, including 24 Greek universities. The ranking is based on the number of Google Scholar citations of professors and researchers of the institutes.

Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators 2021
The August 2021 data-update for “Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators” by J. Baas, K. Boyack, J. P.A. Ioannidis (https://elsevier.digitalcommonsdata.com/datasets/btchxktzyw/3), a study ranking scientists according to a composite bibliometric index based on individual Scopus indices, obtained a list which includes the top 100,000 scientists regardless of their scientific field, as well as those in the top 2% of the subfield in which they are active, a total of 186,000 people. Among them, 829 distinguished scientists with a Greek university/institution/organization web domain appear, 9.4% of whom are affiliated to the University of Patras.

The “Panagiotis Kanellopoulos” Award for Outstanding Publication, established in 2021, aims at emphasizing the importance of basic and applied research by recognizing and rewarding any outstanding research work carried out at the University of Patras.

The “Evangelos Papanoutsos” Award for Teaching Excellence, established in 2021, aims at emphasizing the importance of high quality of teaching by to recognizing those members who serve teaching as an ideal with exceptional ability and dedication.
Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators 2020
Fifty-five (55) faculty members of the University of Patras are included in the ranking of the world leading scientists according to the study “Data for updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators” presented for the year 2020 by a group of Stanford University Professors. The lists include the top/leading 100,000 scientists worldwide from all scientific fields, as well as the top 2% of scientists in their scientific subfield who have published at least five articles. The evaluation was based on the impact of their research work and specifically on the citations received according to the Scopus database until the end of 2019.
University of Patras becomes first Greek University to receive IChemE accreditation
The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has awarded the Department of Chemical Engineering at University of Patras (ChemEngUP), international accreditation for its Integrated Master Diploma (2017). Patras is the first University in Greece to receive the recognition, joining some of the world’s top ranked higher education establishments.
George DASSIOS among the corresponding members of the Academy of Athens
The Academy of Athens, in its Plenary Session of June 15, 2017, elected Georgios DASSIOS, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at the University of Patras, as a corresponding member of the Academy of Athens in the field of Mathematics entitled “Applied Analysis” in the Class of Sciences.

The Academy of Athens, in its Plenary Session of June 4, 2010, elected Konstantinos VAGENAS, Professor of the Polytechnic School of the University of Patras, as a new full member of the Academy of Athens in the field of “Chemical Sciences (Computational, Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry)”.
